Flood and Avalanche Control

Group Coordinator

Abdurrahim Aydın

Prof. Dr.

Duzce University - Department of Forest Engineering

Flood and avalanche control covers engineering and land management approaches for reducing natural hazard risks in steep, sensitive watersheds. Its main tools include watershed rehabilitation, erosion control, drainage planning, avalanche barriers, and biotechnical measures. These structures and practices are intended to protect settlements, infrastructure, forest ecosystems, and human life from the destructive effects of such hazards.
