GIS and remote sensing technologies are used for the spatial monitoring, analysis, and management of forest resources. Satellite images, aerial photographs, LiDAR data, and unmanned aerial vehicle imagery are the main data sources for assessing forest structure, change dynamics, road networks, fire risk, and land use. These technologies make it possible to produce information about large forest areas at a frequency and scale that field surveys alone cannot provide
